Do you have concerns about your child that just don’t seem to be going away? Hypnotherapy for children is a safe and effective therapy that can help deal with many childhood issues:
- Bed wetting
- Confidence/Self Esteem
- Eating issues
- Learning capacity (See Certified Education Performance Practitioner below)
- Obsessive Thoughts and Actions
- Sleep issues
- Sports Confidence/Performance
Working on issues at a deep unconscious level can often resolve things that a child has been struggling with in a relatively short period of time, even if they have been struggling for a considerable period of time.
Children have the most amazing imaginations and often find the whole experience of hypnosis really pleasant and fun! They are often used to ‘day dreaming’, and the whole concept of being guided in a daydream like state is usually very appealing to them.
Children have no preconceptions about what hypnosis is , and tend to ‘just go with the flow’
Younger children and teenagers alike are usually super keen to get on my 6ft memory foam Buddha Bag. They find it comfortable and supportive – a lovely environment to relax in.
Before coming for their hypnotherapy session, I would always recommend that the parent talks to the child about coming to see me and explaing that I am going help them make some changes in their life. Nothing we do is ever outside of the child’s control. Indeed, hypnotherapy works to give the child a grip on what it is that is upsetting them and the tools to address it themselves.
On booking an appointment I will take note of your concerns and the desired outcome of the child’s presenting problem.
WSN Counselling for Children
WSN (Warrior, Settler, Nomad) is a truly miraculous resource for working with children. Because of their age, their imaginations are open to new and challenging concepts. Within two to three sessions I can help a child see solutions to problems that were previously beating them and give them a mental, in-built ‘support team’ they can call on in times of stress for the rest of their lives.
I have successfully treated children with deep seated anger issues; children who have been or are being bullied; children suffering from phobias, pre-exam anxiety and worries of all kinds.
Call me now to discuss how we can help your child overcome whatever is holding them back and move forward with their lives. Click here to learn more about WSN.

Can I be present with my child during the session?
Yes absolutely!…as their parents you are vital in their world.
For younger children it gives them reassurance that a parent is with them.
For older children, after the initial chat they may prefer to conduct the session on their own .This can be discussed on an individual basis.
Throughout the session I will focus on the child rather than the parent. Most of the questions will be directed towards the child. It is vital that I gets to hear about the issue from the child’s perspective, that they feel important and that their opinion counts.
During our first session we will start with a relaxed chat about their issues. I will aim to find out exactly how they are feeling, how the issue affects their life and why they want to change. We will also explore how their life will be and how they will feel once the issue is resolved.
I will explain the difference between the inner/outer mind (conscious and unconscious) in a manner appropriate to the child’s age/level of understanding. This will be put into perspective how hypnosis can help them with their problems and the ways in which these problems present themselves internally and externally.
When the child is ready and happy they will be taken into a light state of hypnosis.
Hypnotherapy for children ages 7 to 12
The younger child tends to have a more vivid imagination and a shorter attention span but are very accepting of new concepts. The hypnosis part of the session is generally shorter in length.
Suggestions of snuggling down into Buddha Bag and feeling comfortable ensure the child quickly relaxes.
Usually all sessions, regardless of the issue, incorporate suggestions of feeling more confident and happy
Hypnotherapy for children ages 13 to 17
More mature children often understand the concept of hypnotherapy as well as adults do.
As long as there is a willingness to change then therapy can be very successful.
Often the older child responds well to talking to an impartial adult and feels the benefit of getting things ‘off their chest ‘ at a conscious level, even before the unconscious work is done.
How Many Sessions?
Every child is unique. However most issues can be addressed between 3 to 6 sessions.
A personalised CD will be cut recording the hypnosis part of the session.
The child will be encouraged to listen regularly between sessions, thus reinforcing the work done in the therapy room

“Madison did fantastically well at Qualifying. Not only did she qualify for The World Championships but she also won the competition! She is over the moon as you can imagine. Everyone commented about how she looked more confident. Thank you for all you have done.” November 2015
Having struggled with a phobia of dogs for years, my 9 year old daughter asked for help to overcome her fear. I found Sally’s website via MIND and saw that she had had success with a similar child. Sally was very welcoming and made us both feel at ease quickly. My daughter had three sessions with Sally. Whilst there has been a huge improvement with dogs on leads – she will now let them walk past her almost without noticing (previously she would cry and try to run away), and has even been stroking some dogs (previously unheard of!), my daughter is still afraid of dogs off leads, although there is improvement there too (the screaming has stopped) and I am hopeful that, given time, her confidence will build and she will learn to overcome this fear too. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Sally as she has made a difference in three sessions, where we had failed for years. September 2014
My youngest daughter has danced since the age of 4, but in the last couple of years she has really suffered with her nerves at competition.
She works so hard at class attending 4 nights a week and we just didn’t know where to go with this, I rang Sally and instantly felt she could help. We went to the initial consultation and I knew by the end of it she was going to help.We had a major competition within a month of seeing Sally, so she had a real challenge with my daughter and true to her word after only 3 sessions she was ready. We went to the competition and it was a different dancer on stage. This was the dancer who we saw dancing in class not the one we normally saw on stage, all the nerves were gone and a confident dancer was performing.Needless to say she went on to do really well and qualify for the world championships. She has since used the cd’s that Sally did for her before any competitions and is going from strength to strength.
Thanks very much Sally you really are a star. June 2014
